Abstract

This paper addresses the issue of gender equality in Brazilian politics and the numerous barriers of political gender violence in this scenario. To this end, the general aim of this article is to inform society about the practices of gender violence in the Brazilian parliament. The specific objectives were to assess the role of women's participation in Brazilian politics; to reflect on gender-based political violence and the impacts it has within parliaments; and to propose a discussion on the negative effects of this problem in an attempt to curb such acts through denunciations. To this end, the work uses descriptive, bibliographical, documentary and explanatory research, with qualitative and quantitative content. In its finais considerations, it seeks to reflect on the damage caused by this gender-based political violence and the struggle of women to combat it, in order to curb these cases and encourage parliamentarians to denounce this type of practice that plagues political houses in Brazilian society.
